Our Mission
Harnessing healing through the Human – Equine connection
What We Offer
At HERE with Avigail, we offer Equine-Facilitated Learning (EFL) experiences that invite you to slow down, connect, and listen more closely to your body’s internal cues.
In EFL, horses are not tools; they are sentient, responsive co-facilitators. Each session offers a safe, nature-based space to notice how you show up in relationship and how trust, boundaries, and communication emerge in real time. Through gentle, embodied connection with horses, clients are supported in developing nervous system regulation, somatic healing, and trauma-informed growth that naturally carries into daily life.
Our Commitment to You
Here, you are seen, supported, and invited to bring all of yourself. With the wisdom of horses, we commit to journey alongside you, as you step toward healing and living the life you deeply desire.
Experiential Approach
Our equine interactions help you experience co-regulation and embodied, bottom-up healing.
Customized intervention
We help you tune into and understand your nervous system and meet you exactly where you are.
Mounted & Unmounted
We build the connection from the ground up, because healing happens in relationship.

Meet Our Team
Avigail Freedman, LMSW, EFL Practitioner
Psychotherapist, Certified Equine-Facilitated Learning Practitioner, & Founder of HERE with avigail
Welcome! I’m Avigail, and I’m so glad you found your way HERE.
I believe you hold the answers within you, and with the gentle presence of our horses, We offer a space to quiet the noise so you can come home to your truest, most alive self.
I trust the wisdom of your body, and together we slow down to listen to the deep knowing that emerges through breath, movement, and connection. Rooted in an attachment framework and trauma informed lens, I work alongside our horses as co-regulators and mirrors, supporting your nervous system as it softens and finds safety. Through somatic exploration, embodiment practices, and trauma renegotiation, we create space for what has been held to gently shift.
I am a Licensed Social Worker, trained in Equine-Facilitated Learning through The HERD Institute and currently furthering my knowledge through Equusoma. My approach integrates somatic parts work, mindfulness, nervous system attunement, and trauma-informed care, grounded in the honest, regulating presence of the horse.
I work with teens and adults in the Baltimore area and am deeply honored to journey alongside those who step into this work.
If you feel called, I invite you to meet me at the barn, where the horses are listening and there is space to come home to yourself.

Sarah Buchalter is a Licensed Social Worker and a certified Equine-Facilitated Learning (EFL) practitioner through The HERD Institute, who works with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. She has a strong interest in experiential and body-based approaches that support emotional regulation, self-awareness, and connection.
A core part of Sarah’s work includes equine-facilitated learning, an experiential modality that partners with horses to help clients explore boundaries, communication, nervous system regulation, and relational patterns in real time. She integrates this work with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic, and relational approaches, tailoring treatment to each client’s needs and comfort level.
Sarah’s style is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, creating a supportive environment where clients feel safe to explore challenges, build coping skills, and develop greater confidence and resilience.
